Project Description
About the Stock Yard Hill project
Situated approximately 35km west of Ballarat, Victoria, Stockyard Hill Wind Farm will harness one of Victoria’s best wind resource locations providing substantial environmental, community and economic benefits.
Considered to be the largest wind farm in Australia, this 530 MW project consists of 149 Goldwind wind turbine generators which have the potential to power approximately 425,000 homes annually.
Our client, Mammoet, specialise in the transportation and lifting of heavy and oversized components. They have a unique track record working with wind turbine installations and have partnered with Goldwind Australia on this and other wind farm projects.
They approached us with knowledge of our experience in renewable energy, our expertise in claims development, our negotiation skills and exceptional history in achieving successful outcomes.
Challenges & solutions
During the construction, Mammoet found themselves increasingly behind schedule, having to bear significant increases to project costs. Initially we were appointed to assess for delays in the supply of equipment and delays in gaining access to the site.
As the project evolved, Mammoet asked us to further support their construction team in developing contractual and fact-based claims documentation that would assist in their pursuit of time extensions and cost claims.
The project commenced construction in May 2018, with the final turbine installation occurring in December 2020. Final commissioning and project completion activities will continue into early 2021.
