Project Description

About the Palmyra Childcare Centre project

Incorporating a heritage listed structure and modern architecture, The Palmyra Childcare Centre offers services to a growing local community with outdoor playscapes and community interaction.

The Centre amalgamates two existing blocks into one, retaining one of the original structures as part of the new project. It also has on-site parking.

Challenges & solutions

CK have a proven track record in developing modern childcare centres throughout the Perth metropolitan area.

The site in Palmyra was chosen for its strategic location, however the heritage listed structure on one of the two lots being developed presented a complication to CK’s traditional layout. The design was adjusted to incorporate the heritage building into the childcare facility.

In providing due diligence reporting to the financier, we investigated and communicated the risk management strategies employed by the project team, which arose from the need for lot amalgamation, heritage listed structures and geotechnical report findings. In addition, we also completed our normal investigations into contract risk, contractor capacity, market appetite and risk, authority and statutory approvals.

We continue to collaborate with CK, the Superintendent and the Contractor to bring the project to a successful completion under the GMP contract – on time, within budget and to the required high level of finish.
